FEATURED PROJECT: adult family medicine, KAISER PERMANENTE, Fremont

a face to health care

Patients need to feel comfortable with and trust their doctors in order to openly share concerns they have about their health. With this project, we collaborated with Kaiser Permanente Fremont’s Adult Family Medicine Department to calm these anxieties by further developing the doctor-patient relationship. To accomplish this goal, we created short "bio" videos for each doctor in the department. This introduction allowed patients to familiarize themselves with their doctor before they even step into a facility. This raised patient comfort level and fostered an open line of communication between doctor and patient. The result was an increase in patient satisfaction which was tracked through patient satisfaction surveys.

FEATURED PROJECT: integrative oncology, KAISER PERMANENTE, SAN FRANCISCO.

Encourage your patients

Patients can have a lot of questions. We teamed with Kaiser Permanente San Francisco's Integrative Oncology Department to answer the question, "What is Integrative Oncology for Breast Cancer Survivors?" Well, it can be a program. It can be a treatment. It can also be a way of life. But how do you present all that information into a digestable packet for patients to understand? We decided that an instructional video format would be an appropriate solution. The purpose of this video is to help facilitate a discussion between doctor and patient about what Integrative Oncology is and what it can do for them. The result is having an informed patient that can have an active role in their own treatment. The video is also short in length so that it can be shared online or sent through email.

Every year, the Alzheimers Association host a “Walk to End Alzheimers” that traverses the beautiful streets of San Francisco. It's an amazing event for a foundation fighting a disease with no known cure. Kaiser Permanente, San Francisco employees participate every time and have found the experience to be more than just a "walk". In the hope of increase supportTheir goal was to encourage staff the participation among their staff. In collaborating with Kaiser Permanente San Francisco and the Alzheimer's Association, we felt that if their staff understood just how much their participation meant to the Alzheimer's Association, as well as to the many lives touched by Alzheimer's, they would be inspired to donate or volunteer. We sought to communicate that the "Walk to End Alzheimer's" isn't just about Alzheimer's and research; it's about people. It's about engaging in your community and supporting everyone in your life that Alzheimer's affects.
